United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization's Office in Nairobi, Kenya Second African Ministerial Conference on Science and Technology, Dakar , Senegal 27-30 September 2005 The Second African Ministerial Conference on Science and Technology/African Ministerial Council on Science and Technology (AMCOST) of the African Union (AU) and the New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD) was hosted by the Government of the Republic of Senegal in Dakar, from the 27 to 30 September, 2005 was officially opened by the president of Senegal A. Wade. The participants included ministers, senior officials, alternative representatives and advisers of Member States of the AU, representatives of relevant international and regional institutions. The conference was organized into two segments: senior officials (Permanent Secretaries/Director Generals) and ministerial segments. Senior officials' segment conducted its work in plenary sessions, where they addressed specific issues requiring more attention. Ministerial segment reviewed important and emerging policy issues in science and technology, adopted the African science and technology strategic framework, Plan of Action and related projects.
