RETREAT FOR KENYA NATIONAL COMISSION FOR UNESCO STAFF, COMMISSIONERS, PARTNERS AND KEY STAKEHOLDERS, AT SUN AND SAND HOTEL MOMBASA, 20 TO 24 APRIL 2005

The main objective of the workshop was to provide a forum for consultation, consensus and capacity building of the key stakeholders involved in UNESCO Kenya cooperation and develop a strategic away forward.
Strategies were developed for Kenya’s effective participation in the 33rd UNESCO General Conference, resource mobilization to strengthen programme operations and activities. Clarification of roles and linkages between UNESCO Office, Cluster Office and Kenya National Commission for UNESCO was also discussed.
They also considered ways and means of ensuring enhanced visibility of the Kenya National Commission for UNESCO and UNESCO activities in Kenya and enhance Kenya’s contribution in UNESCO programme.

Participant ants included Commissioners, Expert committee members, Senior officials of Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Permanent Delegate to UNESCO, Paris, Officials from partner ministries and National Commission for UNESCO staff.
