UNESCO Office in Nairobi Education

UNESCO's mission in education is to promote education as a fundamental human right, to improve the quality of education and to facilitate policy dialogue, knowledge sharing and capacity building.The Nairobi Office's Education Programme focuses on supporting Member States to achieve the Six Education for All and two education-related Millennium Development Goals by 2015.

In the spirit of the One UN Delivering as One in Rwanda, UNESCO will be involved in four strategic areas through capacity development, advocacy, generation and dissemination of information and research:

  • Sector planning and management
  • HIV and AIDS
  • Youth and adult literacy, and
  • Improvement of quality and relevance of education
