As a Regional Bureau for Science and Technology in Africa, the Office is responsible for the preparation and implementation of science programmes in 47 countries in sub-Saharan Africa.

As a Cluster Office, it is responsible for implementing UNESCO programmes in Education, Culture, Social Science and Communication in six African countries( Burundi, Eritrea, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia and Uganda).

Finally the Nairobi Office is the host of regional programmes: The African Network of Scientific and Technological Institutions (ANSTI) and the UNESCO Institute of Statistics.

 

Highlights

AfriMAB Regional Workshop on Sustainable financing of Biosphere Reserves, Nairobi, Kenya, 13-17 September 2010. 

The meeting will bring together participants from  23 countries and other international institutions. The meeting will aim at exchanging information on implementation status of the Madrid Action Plan in Africa and reach agreement on the operation of the Charter and Statutes AfriMAB.More
