Unesco Office in Nairobi

As a Regional Bureau for Science and Technology in Africa, the Office is responsible for the preparation and implementation of science programmes in 47 countries in sub-Saharan Africa.

As a Cluster Office, it is responsible for implementing UNESCO programmes in Education, Culture, Social Science and Communication in six African countries( Burundi, Eritrea, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia and Uganda).

Finally the Nairobi Office is the host of regional programmes: The African Network of Scientific and Technological Institutions (ANSTI) and the UNESCO Institute of Statistics.

The meeting took place at the UNESCO Conference room on the 26th of January 2012.  The meeting discussed among other things how to create information driven society by enhancing access to electronic resources for university students. During his opening speech the Director reminded librarians to embrace technology in information management in order to stay relevant in a technological changing world.
